Throughout history soldiers have found extraordinary ways to entertain themselves. From the Hula-hoop to the Frisbee, soldiers have invented things to help pass the waning hours. Here at Camp Patriot that spirit of resourcefulness continues.
Soldiers of the 147th are doing their part to make time spent here better. Volunteerism and creativity abound within the 147th and it deserves mentioning. A perfect example of these qualities has been made evident during a recent MWR event.
The MWR staff planned a “Halloween Haunted Casino†event and received an overwhelming amount of help from members of the 147th. SSG Carl Pulscher made Craps, Black Jack, and Roulette tables for the event along with a black coffin that contains a skeleton. Other volunteers from the 147th attended several evening meetings to learn how to become Black Jack dealers and Craps table attendants.
Carl’s contributions were all made from recycled materials and are truly remarkable. Even the marbles that Carl used for the roulette table were recycled from spray paint cans. Carl said that “he received help on some of the projects from SSG Lee Kayser and PFC Gabriel Thyne.â€
Others Soldiers from the 147th that volunteered are Alysia Adams, Henry Francisco, Joshua Fields, Arthur Long, Megan Christopherson, Dawn Smith, Brian Voight and Kevin Gibson.
